Praying Prayers

Pete & Dulcie Hodge, urge you to keep the work
in Elbasan Albania in your prayers and plans for the
coming year. We feel we are on the threshold of
wonderful things here, and unusually, whilst we could
always use more money to help with the work, it is
physical help in the form of workers we urgently need.
The local Christians are doing a tremendous job
considering that many of them have only been saved
a few months or even weeks, but we could really use
youth workers, or older people who would like to teach
the WEI English classes, or even personal Bible Studies.
We are now finding so many opportunities, but have so
little time to use them. If you want to help Pete's ministry
financially from the UK, please contact the Skelmersdale church
or email jeff@devout.com for details, Pete's
sponsering eldership for overseeing UK Sterling donations
is the Skelmersdale eldership. For more details you can
email Pete at petehodge@albmail.com

will for you' - 1st Thessalonians 5:18
Heather Wright has been immersed into the Kingdom of
Christ at the Skelmersdale congregation on
8 October, please pray she continues to grow in the grace &
knowledge of Jesus.

Wednesday 18th, Meti and Feti Uruci were immersed
into Christ. They are the parents of our sister Jeta,
who was instrumental in bringing them to a knowledge
of the Lord.  Please pray for these two fine people, and
for the rest of us that we may be able to encourage them
in their new life. Today also, Dulcie Hodge and the English
Class team held their weekly English class in Mjeks Albania.
There were 107  at the three classes. The highest number to
date. Remember, these are all teenagers and do not include
any of the 98 children who attended last Sunday.

Encouraging Experiences In Evangelism

I was christened as a baby and raised in the Dutch
Reformed Church. My parents took my 2 older brothers
and myself to Church. Before and after 3 meals every
day our father would pray and after dinner we would
read from the Bible. So I got to know most of the Bible,
but I never could fit these stories into a big picture.
I went to Christian schools and learned more about
God. My brothers and I had some education in the church
Before I was thinking about doing confirmation, I moved
to Germany, where I lived for about 10 years. I worked
in a big warehouse selling computers and mobile phones.
I visited the Catholic Church with a girl-friend, and also
the evangelical church.  The result was that I stopped
going to church in Germany. In that time I was more
interested in money making and started up my own
business in New Age Correspondence Courses. New
Age is a movement with beliefs out of line with the Bible.
New Age believes in the power of positive thinking and
focuses completely on yourself and the great cosmic power.
But I didn't realize how wrong this was yet. However I
still believed in God and thought I was okay.
As the economy in Germany dropped down I decided
that it was time to go back to the Netherlands. I noticed
that my English was poor.  After searching for English-courses,
which were either not suitable or too expensive, I found an
advert for "Let's Start Talking" (LST) in the local paper in
the Netherlands. LST is a project of churches of Christ to
evangelize.  I went to the induction meeting and started
studying. The students organised socials every week which
had the purpose to bring the church members and the people
studying with LST in contact. After a short time we started
disscussing some Bible passages at my request and I found
out that they had a church service which I started attending.
At the end of the LST project we had a final weekend in
Belgium, called Friendscamp.
Two weeks after the students had left, I had a Bible
study with the local evangelist. We studied for
about 4 hours and spoke about elementary Christian
subjects including baptism. I always thought I was saved
because I believed in God. But now I realized that I
needed to be baptized for the remission of sins. The
evangelist asked me if I wanted to be baptized and I
said yes.  I was baptized at 10:30 p.m. in a bathtub.
It was the greatest moment of my life. I felt very very
happy. Shortly after my baptism I realized how wrong
New Age is and I terminated my own business and destroyed
all the material.
Two weeks after my baptism I served as assitant
campleader at a youthcamp and I started serving the
church. In the course of the year I studied the scriptures
and books and got interested in Bible school.   At the moment
I am already in my second year at the British Bible School.
After my graduation in June 2001, I am, Lord willing,
planning to go into full time work for the Lord.  But I am
not yet sure where. Who am I? My name is Roel de Gruyter.
